Things to Do
There is so much to do while you’re here for our wedding on August 29, 2026. Traverse City was recently voted Best of the Midwest Awards 2026 Food City of the Year and has a great food scene. Also enjoy a stroll along the Boardman River, visit local wineries on the Old Mission and Leelanau Peninsulas (Mawby is our favorite!), explore the shops and cafes in downtown Traverse City, or relax on nearby sandy beaches like Clinch Park. There is a fantastic farmer's market on Saturdays from 7:30 AM-12 PM. If you have extra time, consider a scenic drive or a short hike. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a tough hike, but the views are absolutely STUNNING.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
A breathtaking viewpoint and rewarding hike about 30–40 minutes from Traverse City; expect sweeping lake views, sandy dunes, and well-marked trails. Bring water, good shoes, and arrive early on busy summer days.
Sara Hardy Farmers Market
A lively outdoor farmers market in downtown Traverse City featuring local produce, baked goods, artisan goods, and food vendors; Wednesdays 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and Saturdays 7:30 AM–12:00 PM (June–October).
MAWBY Sparkling Wines
A charming winery on Old Mission Peninsula known for its sparkling wines and picturesque tasting room; about 20–30 minutes from Traverse City. Jacob took Chelsie here after the proposal!
